1. Who Am I?

We tend to think that we are a “self” — an autonomous being that experiences life. But the self is only a concept in our mind. It has no reality beyond that.

If we are not a self then who — or what — are we?

We are a body.

We are a physical body.
This body has needs.
These needs are met in the physical world. We know the body very well. We know the physical world very well.

We are also consciousness.

Unlike the body, consciousness is largely a mystery to us. Consciousness is the experience of being alive. It is the experience of being a body. Consciousness and the body shape our experience of being alive.
